Consent & Medical information

To help us keep everyone safe, every child needs a Consent and Medical Form completed before their first session.

Please make sure the information is kept up to date and let the Forest School Leader know if anything changes. You can return to the form and update it after submission if needed.

What we get up to

Sessions are calm, child-led and guided by the seasons, with a gentle rhythm to the day. Activities are offered and supported, but children choose how and when to engage. There is space for curiosity, movement, quiet focus and rest.

Across the year, activities naturally change with the seasons and may include:

Bug and minibeast investigations, using magnifiers, ID guides and child-led questioning

Skeleton building, bones and anatomy, encouraging hands-on learning and respectful curiosity

Archaeology-style mini digs, exploring history, layers and discovery

Plant science, simple experiments and outdoor crafts, inspired by what’s growing around us

Forest School–style play, including safe tool use, problem-solving and exploration

To support confidence, regulation and wellbeing, sessions also include:

Den building, using tarps, rope and natural materials, encouraging teamwork and imaginative play

Obstacle courses and physical challenges, offering choice, resilience-building and problem-solving at each child’s own level

Hammocks and quiet spaces, for rest, observation, reading or gentle swinging when children need calm

Fireside moments, with stories, reflection, seasonal nature lore and time to simply be

Age-appropriate first aid learning, helping children understand their bodies, manage small bumps and scrapes, recognise when to ask for help, and build confidence in caring for themselves and others

Sessions are intentionally inclusive and SEN-aware, drawing on strong knowledge and experience of supporting a wide range of needs. Activities are flexible, expectations are clear but gentle, and children are never rushed or forced to take part. Some children may spend a whole session deeply focused on one activity, while others move between many. Both approaches are welcomed and valued.

I am currently working towards HAF approval, so eligible families may be able to use HAF codes once this is in place.
