About Me

Hi, I’m Jade — founder of Bugs, Bones & Botany.

I’m a mum of two, based in Dorset, usually found outdoors with my kids, our Jack Russell Lupin, Freida the tortoise, and a small but ever-growing collection of slightly unusual creatures.

My background is firmly rooted in science and investigation. I hold a Master’s degree in Human Osteology and Funerary Archaeology and a degree in Forensic Investigation, with experience in forensic research, frontline ambulance work, and patient safety. I’m also a Level 3 Forest School Leader, bringing together outdoor learning with real-world science.

Over the years, I’ve worked with the East Midlands Forensic Unit, spent seven years on the road with SWAST Ambulance Service, and continue to be involved in emergency response work. Alongside this, I volunteer with Scouts and jump at any chance to get involved in archaeological digs.

Bugs, Bones & Botany was created to bring all of this together — combining nature, science, and hands-on learning in a way that’s accessible, engaging, and genuinely exciting.

I love helping children and adults explore the world around them, build confidence, and ask big questions, whether that’s identifying wildlife, investigating bones, experimenting with science, or getting thoroughly muddy in the process.

Fun fact: If there’s a bone, bug, feather, fossil, or slightly odd natural object nearby… I’ve probably already picked it up and possibly put it in my pocket.

Favourite quote:
"There is no such thing as a stupid question. The only stupid question is the one you didn’t ask."
