The Countryside Code
Explore the principles of Respect, Protect and Enjoy through fun, hands-on activities. Children will learn how to care for nature and wildlife, take part in litter-picking challenges, and create eye-catching posters to promote the code. Sessions can be adapted for different ages, tied into curriculum topics, or offered as a lively outdoor activity for groups and parties — helping everyone enjoy the countryside responsibly.
Location/Environment:
School grounds, local parks, woodland, or any outdoor community space
What’s included:
Litter pickers, gloves, waste/recycling bags, poster-making materials - if required
What will we do?:
- Explore the three key countryside code principles
- Take part in a team litter-picking challenge
- Create posters to promote respecting and protecting nature
- Discuss how to enjoy the outdoors responsibly

Practical Requirements:
- Access to outdoor space
- Weather-appropriate clothing and footwear

- Can be adapted for EYFS, KS1, KS2, Scouts/Guides, or community groups
- Can also run as a fun, eco-friendly group activity or party

(Recommended adult to child ratios - 1:6 for 4-8 year olds and 1:8 for 9-12 year olds, with at least two adults present at all times.)
