Ancient Crafts and Tools
Step back in time and discover the skills our ancestors used to survive and create. In this hands-on session, children will explore prehistoric crafts such as natural pigment painting, making clay pots, weaving simple patterns, and twisting plant fibres into cordage. Along the way, we’ll discuss how these artefacts survive and what they can teach us about ancient life.
Location/Environment:
Classroom, school hall, or outdoor space (ideal for messy, hands-on activities)

Natural pigments, clay and tools, weaving materials, plant fibres, activity sheets
What will we do?:
- Discuss artefacts and what they reveal about ancient cultures
- Optional activities: natural pigment painting, making simple clay pots, weaving and making cordage from plants
